This study examined the factor structure, reliability and validity of the Pain Beliefs and Perception Inventory among a sample of 232 cancer patients undergoing treatment for cancer at the Institute of Cancer in Tehran. A factor analysis supported 4 factors. Factor one, Pain Permanence, consists of 4 items addresses the beliefs that pain will not change in the future. Factor two, Self-Blame consists of 3 items and reflects the patients’ beliefs that they are the appropriate target for blame for their pain experience. Factor three, Pain Stability, consists of 4 items and taps into the belief that pain is quite stable and present all the time and factor four, Mysteriousness, consists of 4 items and addresses the belief that pain is an aversive event that is poorly understood. These factors had satisfactory reliability (internal consistency) the Chronbach’s alphas for the subscales ranged from 0.70 to 0.77. These factors were then correlated with averages of pain intensity and pain interference with daily activities as well as with some measures of general health indices. Higher scores on each belief were positively and significantly associated with more severe pain and higher levels of pain interference. Also, higher scores on Pain Constancy, Pain Permanence and Mysteriousness were significantly associated with some, but not all general health indexes. Multiple hierarchical regression analyses revealed that stronger belief on Pain Stability was an independent and significant predictor of the severity of pain and pain interference after controlling for the possible confounding effects of age of the patients. Also, stronger belief in Pain Stability was an independent and significant predictor of Bodily pain, General Health and Vitality stronger belief in Pain Permanence was an independent and significant predictor of General Health and stronger belief on pain as a mystery was an independent and significant and predictor of weaker General and Mental Health conditions. These findings are particularly significant because the relationships were controlled for the possible effects of patients’ pain severity. The clinical implications of these findings are discussed. }, keywords = {Pain-related beliefs,Cancer pain,Interference,Pain intensity,Adjustment}, title_fa = {نقش باورهای مرتبط با درد در سازگاری با بیماری سرطان}, abstract_fa = {مقاله حاضر رابطه بین باورهای مربوط به درد و درد سرطان و تأثیر این باورها را بر سطح سازگاری بیماران مبتلا به سرطان مورد مطالعه قرار داده است. در این مطالعه ۲۳۲ بیمار با میانگین سنی ۶/۳۴ سال (26/15=SD) شرکت داشتند. تمام بیماران پرسشنامه اطلاعات عمومی و پرسشنامه ادراک‌ها و باورهای مربوط به درد را تکمیل کردند. ۱۳۲ نفر از این بیماران پرسشنامه زمینه‌یابی سلامت (فرم کوتاه ۳۶ سؤالی) را تکمیل کردند. نتایج تحلیل ساختار عاملی پرسشنامه ادراک‌ها و باورهای درد به استخراج ۴ عامل منجر گردید. این عوامل به شرح زیر نام‌گذاری شد: باور به استمرار درد در آینده، باور به ثبات درد در زمان حال، باور به اسرار‌آمیز بودن درد و سرزنش کردن خود به خاطر درد. ضرایب همسانی درونی (آلفای کرونباخ) عبارات تشکیل‌دهنده ۴ عامل مذکور بین ۷۰/۰ تا ۷۷/۰متغیر بود. این ضرایب حاکی از همسانی درونی قابل قبول عوامل پرسشنامه مورد مطالعه است. نتایج تحلیل همبستگی نشان داد که باورهای مربوط به درد با شدت درد و میزان اختلال در عملکرد روزانه رابطه دارد. همچنین همبستگی‌های معناداری بین باور به استمرار درد در آینده، باور به ثبات درد در زمان حال و باور به اسرار‌آمیز بودن درد و بسیاری از شاخص‌های سلامت وجود داشت. نتایج تحلیل رگرسیون چند متغیری نشان داد که پس از کنترل عامل سن، باور عمیق‌تر به ثبات درد در زمان حال، پیش‌بینی‌‌کننده درد شدیدتر و اختلال بیش‌تر در عملکرد روزانه است. علاوه بر این، نتایج تحلیل رگرسیون چند متغیری حاکی از آن است که پس از کنترل شدت درد، باور عمیق‌تر به ثبات درد در زمان حال پیش‌بینی‌‌کننده درد بدنی بیش‌تر و سلامت عمومی و سرزندگی ضعیف‌تری است؛ همین تحلیل‌ها نشان داد که باور عمیق‌تر به استمرار درد در آینده پیش‌بینی‌‌کننده سلامت عمومی ضعیف‌تر و نیز باور عمیق‌تر به اسرارآمیز بودن درد پیش‌بینی‌‌کننده سلامت عمومی و سلامت روانی‌ ضعیف‌تری است. برخی از کاربردهای بالینی این یافته‌ها در مقاله حاضر مورد بحث قرار گرفته است.}, keywords_fa = {باورهای مربوط به درد,درد سرطانی,شدت درد,سازگاری}, url = {https://cpap.shahed.ac.ir/article_2578.html}, eprint = {https://cpap.shahed.ac.ir/article_2578_d0ddb9e0d848a463358772a6f22eff2d.pdf} }
