Introduction: The concept of scientific success is attended to exploration of educational condition with emphasis on attitude, personality characters, and self-regulating learning strategies. The aim of this research was to study the personality characteristics, self-regulating learning strategies and scientific success of students.

Method: In this descriptive correlation study, 283(206 boys, 77girls) students with census method were participated in this study in year 90.finaly, 164(119 boys, 45 girls) students were entered statistical analysis. All of the participants were asked to complete the NEO personality inventory (NEO-FFI) and the motivational-learning strategies questionnaire (MSLQ). The rate of scientific success was measured based on type of medal, too. Analysis of a data involved both this descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviation Pearson's correlation coefficient and descrimenent analysis.

Results: the result revealed that there were correlation between personality characteristics and many self-regulating learning strategies subscales (p<0.05, p<0.01). The results of one-way variance analysis revealed that there were significant different between variables, conscientiousness, help, value for goal with scientific success (p<0.05). The results descrimenent analysis revealed that variables of conscientiousness, adjustment, meta-cognition self regulation were predicted scientific success and type of medal more than others. All of these prevention variables have prevented 54.6 percent of variance of academic success.

Conclusion: based on the results of this research, personality characteristics have correlate with many of many self-regulating learning strategies. Many of personality characteristics and many self-regulating learning strategies can predict the rate of scientific success of students.
