Background and objectives: the present study has been done with the primary goal of investigating the role of personality traits and life expectancy in predicting psychological hardness. Method: This research is correlated and the sample population of it consists of 350 person from Tehran Payam-e-Noor University. These people were chosen through convenience sampling. In order to gather data, three questionnaires were used: Snyder’s life expectancy questionnaire (SHS), NEO Five-Factor Personality Inventory, and Ahvaz Hardiness Inventory (AHI). Then the data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation methods and regression analysis. Results: The results show that there exists a significant positive relationship between life expectancy, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and hardiness. In addition, there is negative relationship between neuroticism, Openness to experience and hardness. Regression analysis also depicts that life expectancy variable and among NEO five personality factors high extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and low neuroticism and openness to experience herald life expectancy. Conclusion: The findings indicated that both personality traits and life expectancy are of more importance in the psychological hardness of the students.
