Introduction: The objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of  training the independent learning program on the Academic Performance in students suffering from attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Method: The research design was quasi-experimental with pretest/posttest and the control group. the population included all male students aged at 10 to 12 years old suffering from attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in Shahreza Township in the second semester of the academic year 2014-1015. The sample size included 30 students with average age 11 years old who were received the diagnosis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder based on the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. Participants were selected using the stratified random sampling method. Research instruments included Connors Parent-Teacher Questionnaire for measuring symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity and the Academic Performance Rating Scale (APRS) for investigating the Academic Productivity and Impulse control. Data analysis was conducted by ANCOVA.

Result: There was significant difference (p<0.01) between the two control and experimental groups in terms of the Academic Performance and and Subscales are : Academic Success, Academic Productivity, Impulse control after training independent learning.

Discussion and conculusion: training independent learning can result in improving result in improving academic performance in  students  with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and it applies as a method to improve education performance.
