The Effectiveness of Group Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) on severity of symptoms of Attention Deficit/hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of group Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) on severity of Symptoms of ADHD in children aged 8-11.
Method: In this experimental study 30 couples (from 69 child-parent couples suffering from ADHD) were selected randomly based on pretest, posttest design with placebo treatment group. They assigned into two groups of experimental and placebo treatment group. The subjects of the two groups were assessed by Conner's Parents Rating Scale (CPRS-48)”. Data were analyzed by parametric tests algorithms Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) for studying the statistical meaning and clinical meaning.
Results: The findings of the study showed that there's a significant statistical and clinical reduction in general problems and a significant statistical reduction in the intensity of symptoms of learning and attention in children suffering from the disorder.
Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings of the current study and previous researches we can conclude that these therapies along with pharmacotherapy can control the behavior of the children suffering from ADHD and offers significant facilities for future use in Iranian population.
