The present study aims at introducing the determination theory and standardizing Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) among the high school students in Tehran. The self-determination theory divides motivation into six parts: intrinsic motivation, integrated regulation and identified regulation based on this theory AMS has been planned and performed in Canada. In the present research, this Scale has been completed by students who studying at Tehran’s high schools. Then the exploratory factor analysis was used and resulted in five factors. Validity and reliability of the scale was computed as well. The results show that the scale enjoys a high degree of validity and reliability in Iran’s society.
