The effectiveness of unified transdiagnostic treatment on emotional feelings, detective thinking, cognitive emotion regulation and positive and negative emotions in anxious children aged 8 to 12 years

Abstract

Introductoin : The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of unified transdiagnostic treatment on emotional feelings, detective thinking, cognitive emotion regulation and positive and negative emotions in anxious children aged 8 to 12 years.

Method: The research was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design and follow-up period of 45 days. The statistical population included all children aged 8-12 years in Isfahan in the academic year 1399-1400 that 30 children with patients were selected by multi-stage random sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Ehrenrich Integrated Transdiagnostic Treatment (2019) was performed in 15 sessions of 40 minutes. The instruments included the Spence anxiety Questionnaire (1998), Riffy et al. (2007) Emotional awareness, Cognitive emotion regulation, Garnewski and Kreich (2006), Hepner Problem Solving (1988), and Panas (1988) Positive and Negative Emotion Assessment. Researches of analysis of variance method with repeated measures and analysis by SPSS-26 software.

Results: The results showed that unified transdiagnostic treatment is effective on emotional awareness, detective thinking, cognitive emotion regulation and negative emotion of anxious children aged 8 to 12 years, but the findings of the study did not show usefulness in the effect of this treatment on improving the average positive emotion score in anxious children.

Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings, integrated meta-diagnostic therapy can be used as an effective treatment in the interventions of anxious children.
