Introduction: The purpose of this study is to predict the clinical disorders of the students based on their coping styles and mindfulness.
Method: All B.A technical engineering students of Golpayegan University were the statistical population, from which 222 subjects were selected by convenience sampling. Three questionnaires of Five Facet of Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ) (Boer et.al, 2006), the coping inventory for stressful situation (CISS) (Endler and Parker, 1990) and Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) (Derogates, 2000) were used for data collection. This is a correlation research and linear regression and Pearson correlation were used for analyzing the data.
Results: Data analysis showed that there's a significant negative relationship between all the mindfulness components, except observation, and clinical disorder. Among coping styles, problem focused coping has a significant negative relationship with clinical disorder and emotion focused and avoiding focused coping have a significant positive relationship with clinical disorder. The finding also showed that acting with awareness (one of the mindfulness components) and coping styles such as problem focused and emotion focused can determine 35.6% of clinical disorder variance.
Discussion and Conclusion: According to the findings, it is recommended that clinicians use coping strategies and mindfulness exercises in designing the treatment plans of clinical disorder.
