English

Introduction: The aim of this study was to translate the Self-Connection Scale developed by Klossman et al. into Persian and to evaluate its psychometric properties.
Method: This study employed a cross-sectional descriptive psychometric design. The statistical population comprised residents of Isfahan aged over 18 years during the spring of 2024. A total of 128 participants were selected through convenience sampling. The measurement instruments included the Persian version of the Self-Connection Scale (SCS-P), the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ), the Five-Factor Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), and the Short Form of the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS-SF). Data were processed and analyzed using SPSS version 26 and AMOS version 24 software.
Results: The face and content validity of the SCS-P were examined and confirmed by experts and the target group. In the criterion validity study, the three subscales—self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-alignment—showed significant positive correlations with the FFMQ, SCS-SF, and MLQ (p < 0.01). Confirmatory factor analysis also supported the existence of these three factors. Both Cronbach's alpha and split-half reliability analyses confirmed the instrument's reliability. The Cronbach's alpha coefficients for the subscales of awareness, acceptance, and self-alignment were 0.787, 0.682, and 0.738, respectively, with a total Cronbach's alpha of 0.817.
Discussion and conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that the SCS-P is a valid and reliable tool for measuring self-connection in the Iranian population.
